In this futuristic society,
cloning is a common practice among rich men. Matteo Alacran, or El
Patron, a feudal drug lord in the country named Opium lying between the United
States and Mexico, has lived 140 years with the help of transplants from
a series of clones. Although a clone’s intelligence is usually destroyed
at birth, Matt, a very special clone of El Patron, lives a pampered life in
many ways at the family estate. However, life is not easy for Matt;
some people treat him as less than human. Matt himself is unsure what
it means to be a clone and what his purpose is. |
