We walked the miles into the rain
It never stopped, we felt the pain
The pains of life that this war sends

We have no will to fight or die
But kept on going, not knowing why
We held our sanity, though it was hard
Through the thick of the fight, we held up our guard

The rain came down like blocks of cement
But giving up was what we’d repent
Out of nowhere a gunshot would blow
In a matter of seconds, our life would go

The things that we carried brought us down
Physically, emotionally, it tore us to the ground
It never ended, it was a constant fight
But we always promised out mothers we’d write
